We would just like to thank all of the directors who gave feedback on our videos!
We appreciate the constructive comments and are now using our last week to make tweaks.
We are also filming a short case study on the overall project, by interviewing ourselves and using footage of us working throughout the project.
The un-tweaked videos can be watched below:
DELIVERY PLAN FOR THE UK IT ASSOCIATION’S INDUCTION PROGRAMME
Please find below our suggested delivery plan for the induction…
Stage 1: New member joins the UK IT Association,
Stage 2: 30 minute induction phone call, (if still planning to conduct these)
Stage 3: Welcome email sent, including Helens ‘welcome’ video with directions to watch the other videos.
Stage 4: Meet the Chair
Stage 5: UKITA Members Profile Tour
Stage 6: How to maximise your UKITA membership
Stage 7: Under the UKITA Umbrella
Over the past 2 weeks we have been working on the marketing of the project, we have been in touch with the University of Wolverhampton who have agreed to work with us to get our content out to the right audience. We are preparing an article about the intern project, and also conducting interviews of each other talking about our experiences.
In terms of the videos, we now have all the footage and voice overs recorded – ready to be edited. We have however come across a number of issues, especially with Helen’s interview in terms of editing the content down to be succinct enough to hold the audiences attention.
As a result we have today re-recorded the ‘Meet the Chair’ interview, in order to try and get a more concise piece of footage to edit. This time using a script and auto-cue to try and make the interview flow – however this then gave us other problems as it did not look as natural.
We have also made adjustments and re-recorded the voice overs as the UKITA slogan has been changed to ‘more business, quality and voice’
Other than this we are working together to put animations and graphics onto the ‘How to maximise your UKITA membership’ video.
We are hoping to get all the videos complete by the end of week 8 (Thursday 16th May), we would then like to circulate an email across all of the board with links to watch the videos on YouTube. There will then be a period whereby the directors can give feedback, for us then to use in our final week to make any reasonable changes.
15th April – 26th April 2013
Over the past two weeks, we have made a lot of progress on the 4 videos, here is a summary of where we are at for each video…
Video 1 – Meet the Chair
Helen’s ‘introduction to UKITA’ interview and ‘Congratulations’ video has been recorded. We are now in the editing stage and have around 1 hour of footage to edit down to 2 minutes!
Video 2 – UKITA Members Profile Tour
The members profile has been recreated in Photoshop, we are now waiting to record the scripts early next week so that the timings of the video can be matched to the voice over. We have also created a few PDF files, that give more in-depth, step by step instructions on how to successfully fill out a ‘good’ profile.
Video 3 – Under The UKITA Umbrella
We now have over 100 drawn animation frames, they have all been scanned into the computer, and we are now editing each of them individually to make them brighter and to reduce any pencil reflection marks. We have made another draft and with all attempts to make the animation as long as possible, with the use of making more frames, slowing them down and looping them – we still only have a 20 second animation. We simply do not have the time to make a full video using our animation character – however we have a few ideas on how we can make this work!
Video 4 – How To Maximise Your UKITA Membership
We have recorded the live footage of this video earlier this week, which is a simulation of a desktop with various props. We now need to record the voice over and add text, animations and sound effects to the video to attract the audiences attention.
In addition to these videos, we have a short animation using our cartoon character which will give the contact details for the UKITA headoffice at the end of each video.
Overall, we have a lot of editing to do! We also have the voice overs to record and add to the videos to get the timings correct…
Keep watching the blog this week for more updates and test clips.
8th April – 12th April 2013
This week we have made great progress with writing scripts, trialing out test clips and shooting the animation, etc…
We have had some very useful feedback from the directors, so please keep that coming!
We also finally received our camera, which now puts us in the position to start producing our videos!
Here are two trial videos Tom has been working on using the dummy profile. We are experimenting ways we can explain the profile with different zooming effects…
